PORTRAYAL

This talented Australian actor and filmmaker got his international breakthrough starring in George Miller's acclaimed Mad Max (1979) in his native Australia, before going on to building himself up to international stardom through a series of well-chosen roles in the 80s. With Lethal Weapon and Tequila Sunrise, he became one of the hottest box-office attractions of the late 80s, but throughout the 90s Gibson divided his attention between box-office hits, directorial work and more serious dramatic content. Although not comfortable in all dramatic roles, his charm and charisma has tended to save him when he's threading thin ice. With the majestic historical epic, Braveheart, Gibson proved himself as a major filmmaker, and in later years he has also found himself more often in romantic comedies, a genre he masters to perfection.
