Review
Intriguing and timely satire from the
talented first-time Norwegian writer and director Kristoffer Borgli. Syk pike
comments on and ridicules modern-day self-obsession, pathologizing and
overreacting with a delightful off-hand brilliance. The picture has an arthouse
origin but mainstream sensibilities, and this combo gives it an immediate,
undeniable appeal. The talented Kristine Kujath Thorp creates a fabulously
obnoxious lead character who reeks of entitlement and monomania – and who is
sure to not leave you unscathed, so to speak. One of the best Norwegian films of
2022.
