Tim Robbins
ACTOR FILMOGRAPHY (ONLY REVIEWED ENTRIES)
FILMMAKER FILMOGRAPHY (ONLY REVIEWED ENTRIES)
Tall, unconventionally handsome character actor and later director who managed to build an unlikely career in the American movie business from the late 1980s, often portraying gullible or unwitting characters. His breakthrough came with the western Bull Durham in 1988, where he also met his future wife, Susan Sarandon. After impressive parts in critically acclaimed films such as Jacob's Ladder, The Player, The Hudsucker Proxy, and The Shawshank Redemption, Robbins directed the powerful anti-capital punishment drama Dead Man Walking (1995), starring his wife and Sean Penn. He was nominated for an Academy Award for his efforts. During the 2000s, Robbins became more selective as an actor, but he delivered strong supporting work in films such as Mission To Mars, High Fidelity, and Mystic River. For the latter, he was nominated for – and won – the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
