Fairly beautiful, icy-eyed performer with distinctive eyebrows and a winning smile that broke through in a well-written role as a junkie in Darren Aronofsky's brilliant Requiem for a Dream. She followed up a year later with a fine performance in another masterpiece, this time in Ron Howard's A Beautiful Mind, for which she was awarded an Oscar for best supporting role. Subsequently, Connelly has tried to find challenging parts to further her career, but she often struggles to find the right tone for her performances, even though she makes her talent visible from time to time.
