Review

This was the nail in the coffin for the otherwise successful crazy-comedy sub-genre starring Leslie Nielsen (Airplane!, The Naked Gun trilogy). The formula is the same in this movie, but although the parodies are hit and miss, the jokes aren't well-written enough, resulting in too many cringeworthy moments. Nielsen delivers his usual deadpan persona, which can be funny even without any lines, but he is more weary and less inspired here. Several blockbusters are being parodied, such as Speed (the bus ride), the Die Hard trilogy, and Home Alone (Macaulay Culkin's doppelganger is named McCluckey). Of these, the latter is the best (or least bad), with this quote a highlight: Rancor's henchman: "Here’s for Getting Even With Dad, and here's for My Girl and My Girl 2"; McCluckey: "I wasn’t even in My Girl 2".
