Review

Satanic horror meets police procedural in this summer blockbuster written and directed by Osgood Perkins (Gretel & Hansel). Some might find its zealously shrouded mystery and subsequent unveiling of it alluring; others will find the entire premise hokey and unnecessarily convoluted. And if you fall into the latter category, you'll probably also be a little bit extra annoyed by Nicolas Cage's flashy, gimmicky performance as the title character. He, along with the film's rather glaring lack of inventive ideas, makes Longlegs into a long-winded horror film with hardly any scares.
