Michael Shannon
FILMOGRAPHY (ONLY REVIEWED ENTRIES)
Talented, powerful actor – reminiscent of a younger, more rural Christopher Walken – who worked his way up through bit parts and minor supporting roles to become one of the most sought-after character actors in American cinema. His major breakthrough came with his Oscar-nominated turn as the mentally ill John Givings in Sam Mendes' Revolutionary Road (2008). Perhaps his best work, however, has come through his collaboration with independent filmmaker Jeff Nichols – first in Shotgun Stories in 2007, and then with an immaculate performance as a man tormented by apocalyptic visions in Take Shelter, for which he won a host of awards.
