Mickey Rourke
FILMOGRAPHY (ONLY REVIEWED ENTRIES)
After a troubled childhood and a fairly successful junior boxing career, the young and handsome Mickey Rourke turned to acting, enrolling at the Actors Studio in New York after an audition that Elia Kazan is reported to have called "the best audition in thirty years". His talent has never been in doubt, even if his focus and actual achievements in the business haven't always lived up to it. Rourke made a name for himself with a brilliant turn as an arsonist in Lawrence Kasdan's steamy Body Heat in 1981, and went on to become a star during the 1980s, with lead roles in films such as Diner, Year of the Dragon, 9½ Weeks, Angel Heart, and Barfly. After a period of struggles – both professional and personal – Rourke made a triumphant return in the 2000s, winning a host of awards for his work in Darren Aronofsky's The Wrestler (2008).
