Review

Just when people thought the big film parodies had gone overboard, the Zucker/Abrahams/Zucker trio returned with The Naked Gun, starring such an inspired and deadpan-funny Leslie Nielsen that people couldn't help themselves. It may not be as pinpointed or clever as Airplane!, but it is equally rich on good ideas and great physical comedy. And of course, it has a bigger dosage of Nielsen, who turned out to be twice as talented a comedian as he ever was a serious actor. Also with Priscilla Presley as Nielsen's love interest, George Kennedy as his dimwitted captain, and O. J. Simpson as his clumsy partner.
