Review

Swedish/Norwegian first-time filmmaker Fanny Ovesen has an angle and something to say, even if she may lack a truly engaging voice. Leva lite follows two young Swedish women on a couch-surfing trip throughout Europe. Their main focus is drinking and flirting with boys, and as Ovesen explores the potentially slippery slopes of such endeavours, particularly from a female perspective, she does it with a sobering sense of balance, perhaps even grace. An committed, gutsy lead performance by Embla Ingelman-Sundberg spearheads a film that has a lot going for it, perhaps with the exception of being truly memorable.
