Review
It’s certainly not the best,
which I’m fairly certain the guys themselves are well aware of. Whether
it’s the last, you never know, but let’s hope so, because Knoxville et
al. are now too old and arthritic to be able to perform the breakneck
stunts that made them the darlings of the MTV generation around the turn
of the millennium. As a result, Jackass: Best and Last is more of
a greatest hits compilation – consisting mainly of older and/or
previously unseen bits along with a fair amount of reminiscing.
Knoxville and partner Chris Pontius look back on their experiences over
these past 25 years, and it’s charming, even touching, to listen to
them. It puts Jackass in a human perspective, even though it
arguably only makes sense for die-hard fans. If you are among those,
Best and Last works as a worthy bookend to the story. And as always,
the Jackass crew deliver on their opening and ending set-pieces,
which, once again, are the highlights.
