Review
This sorry excuse for a
documentary is not really a journalistic delve into a complex character
and life as much as it is a proponent for and symptom of the corrupted
culture it depicts. It is a look at the life of Britney Spears from the
same distance and with as little weightiness as the paparazzi portrayed in
the film could give us with their often disgraceful photos.
Watching this film gives you no new information, only new grief. And the
filmmakers don't even raise questions, they only repeat the ones
that have already been asked. The irony of Framing Britney Spears
is that it turns out not to be about the demise of a star, but the demise of an
entire nation of would-be stars, all raised to sacrifice their integrity
and privacy for their 15 minutes of fame, but here popping out in
numbers to lambast that same culture.
