The First Wives Club
(1996)
This spastic attempt at setting
patriarchal organizational structures right from a feminist perspective is neither
particularly entertaining nor well-executed, despite the best efforts of the
three energetic, middle-aged Hollywood stars Goldie Hawn, Diane Keaton and Bette
Midler. The film offers them lots of screen-time and material to work with, but
the drama is too slight and the comedy too forced.
