Everyone Says I Love You
(1996)
Woody Allen tries to charm his way into our hearts with this tribute to studio-era musicals. As usual, he has attracted an impressive bunch of charismatic performers, who are led through an abundance of intrigues and romantic entanglements on wonderful locations around the world, but their revelling in and praise for love (with a big L, mind you) remains rather flat and empty. The musical numbers provide a few fascinating moments and serve as an excuse for Allen's self-absorbed, Hollywoodized view of romance.
