Review
This
short love story has its roots in traditional Scandinavian fairytales,
and Norwegian filmmaker Torill Kove deploys classical symbolism and
narrative techniques to tell the tale of a couple of quirky characters – a Norwegian maiden and a Danish poet. The animations are old-fashioned
and simplistic, giving the film an appropriately archaic feel and
making this an amusing and quite effective little tale. The narration is
provided by Liv Ullmann.
