Review

Another adaptation from Stephen King's explosion of horror ideas, based on a novel he himself once dubbed "an awful book". The Tommyknockers first appeared as a three-hour TV miniseries which was then edited down to a two-hour home video release. This format change hasn't done the film any favours, but there are several other impediments. The cast is one of them, with Jimmy Smits of L.A. Law fame never looking comfortable in the lead. Another is the poor direction and craftsmanship by seemingly most of the people behind the camera. Stay clear of this one if you can. Ex-porn queen Traci Lords appears in a not too tacky supporting role.
