Norske
byggeklosser (1972)
A devoted and perpetual Rolv Wesenlund plays an abundance of roles in this Norwegian semi-classic which satirizes the clash between intractable craftmen and meek academics during the building boom of the 1970s. When I say classic, this is more in effort than in quality, as the script varies from hilaroius to downright annoying (such as the traffic control scene), but Wesenlund often saves the uttermost stupidities through his charisma, and Pål Bang-Hansen's love for the art of film shines through his frisky but flawed direction. Norske byggeklosser belongs to the type of comedy that wears the viewer out through its endless downward spiral, but which also brings out a smile at regular intervals.
