Review

Even though the Norwegian folk tales are ridden with archetypes and cliches, there's no need for a modern film version to salute them. At least not when the filmmakers are taking such liberties in other aspects of the process, such as the narrative, which is a hotchpotch of bits and pieces from various Askeladden tales. It works partially – if you're partial to trolls and buffoonery.
